THE BASEMENT FORMATION PROCESS

The basement formation process involves gradual excavation and propping of the house.  This is followed by the installation of cantilevered concrete retaining walls, which are cast to support the weight of the house above and to resist the lateral earth pressures.  Basement construction is dirty and difficult work that’s undertaken in the most testing of environments – with hundreds of tonnes of house bearing down on the props and water flooding into the excavated works.
